Sorry Daragh, just a wee bit excited to get going since Annalise is back again today and the athletics starts too.
Anyone see Jess Ennis this morning! She elicits a 'wow' response normally but that was brilliant this morning, in the 100m hurdles, the first event of the heptathlon.
She looked a bit emotional following the audience reaction to her introduction, too much so to me. But there was no need to worry, as she set a GB record and the quickest time ever by a heptathlete.
@Peter Yep, I enjoy the swimming, the gymnastics, rowing etc but the athletics are really exciting. The key for Annalise, and the rest of the Irish, is the wind and I think it's windy today.
We're going to have a busy four or five hours, and then a welcome lull before this evening.
@Daragh Ó Conchúir Yeah I heard it is going to be windy down in Weymouth so that should suit her alright.
SNAP! Germany have won the gold medal in the men’s quadruple sculls.
First up is Joanne Cuddihy in the Women's 400m and she is in heat 1.
David Burrows and Peter O'Leary are in ninth position overall in the Men's Star on 57 points, 35 points behind the bronze medal position held by Sweden. They need to pick it up a bit to get into contention again.
James Espey is out of the medal reckoning really in the Men's laser in 45th place.

Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan are 23rd overall in the Men's 470, but they are only two races into their event so there is a long way to go yet.

Good morning from a packed Olympic Stadium. I have never seen anything like this for a morning session at any athletics championship I have ever been at. 80,000 here since 10am.

Joanne Cuddihy goes in lane four pf the very first heat of the women's 400m. It's the first three and three fastest losers through, with Cuddihy having the third fastest personal best and season's best of the field.
@Peter Towe Quite buoyant I think. Those I've heard from seem to be in good form.

Cuddihy went out quick and folded to lose third so she must wait on the times. Probably went out a bit too strongly but season's best is what she'd be looking for. Somalian athlete almost falls over the line, barely jogging. Seriously. I'd have beaten her. I know it's about the participation. But....
SNAP! Britain’s George Nash and William Satch have won a bronze medal in the men’s pair. New Zealand took the gold.
Been a tough build-up for Cuddihy, with her sister's involvement in the relay shenanigans.
