Nobody talking about weaklings, Diarmuid. Can you see Cussen making team? If Joyce is centre-back, then Cian McCarthy must be centre-forward. They need foil to the likes of O'Sullivan and Lehane.
Galway COULD take Kilkenny, though I don't think they will; Tipp in the other semi-final. All-Ireland contenders? Wouldn't rule any of the 1A teams out, nor Dublin, nor Limerick, though their chances more remote, likewise Offaly and Wexford. Kilkenny still top, Tipp next...
Of course you can have Offaly and Wexford in Division 2. They're not good enough to be in the top flight.
Agree with Tom, not enough games; why not home and away, double up the fixtures, have five home games for every county?
Cussen might surprise a few people yet!
League format is failing hurling and next year's will be worse. Picture the quarter-finals as they would be under next year's format: Tipperary v Wexford, Kilkenny v Offaly, Galway v Dublin, Waterford v Limerick. Two write-offs right there for a start.
God, Diarmuid, you'd never get the championship played if that were the case!
Agree with that Bosscoat, Glennon a flyer and Tannian a load when he gets going. Galway have the talent, no question, it's the harness...
You would Enda; no off-weeks, start one week earlier, right into April, then just semis and final.
League quarter-finals: aaaaargh! I've seen so many bad ones over the years. They still give me occasional nightmares...
Ha, glad you agree about the no quarter-finals!
Six-team top flight no problem if it's home and away with just a final and no links to Division 1B but then Limerick should have been in Division 1A in the first place.
Absolute nonsense, four wasted games; home and away I say!
Maybe the GAA or HDC should let US decide the format...
The poor HDC and Tommy Lanigan don't get much of a say either, Enda.
True. Right, kiddies, are we all tapped out here?
Yes John, top four in semi-final, bottom two in relegation final - bottom goes down, top of 1B goes up. THEN you'd see regular-round action!
No one talking about Kilkenny... given all their injuries and still in a league semi-final. Are we in for another predictable hurling season?
Another ridiculous by-product of this league is Waterford now being 9 weeks without a competitive game.
Terry: I think the only surprise will be if the All Ireland final isn't contested by 2 out of Kilkenny, Tipp and Galway.
Exactly my point John, for home and away; start a week earlier, use EVERY weekend, go through April.
Why would you reward the top four? Surely, that undermines the 10 previous games.
Yes John, good point - final only then.
Kilkenny still in the number one spot. That they qualified winning their last 3 games is a testament to their panel.
I think we all know that a more open era is coming in hurling. But maybe not this year...
We sure would, Tom Lonergan!
Agree with Enda on the probable AI finalists but not dismissing the possibility - strong - that we could see others.
Granted, Cork there in September would not be a surprise. At all.
@bosscoat - games before Christmas would be unfair on All-Ireland champions and finalists. Deserve their down-time.
Ok lads, we'll call it a day. We'll be back again next Monday with a football watercooler
Is that the 1-2-3-4 at the moment, then? The three we've mentioned plus Cork?
